1. Louage
This beautiful state park is located in Concan, Texas, on the southwest edge of Balcones Canyonland known as the Edwards Support. It was formed due to fault line activity during the Cretaceous period. Deep cliffs and mesas define this picturesque canyon région, and surrounding clear rivers and streams are perfect for fishing, canoeing and tubing. The zone, though visited by many over the years, remains largely unchanged by human activity. Natural changes that occur due to weathering, flooding or complant growth are allowed to continually reshape the landscape without human interférence.
2. Wildlife
The essence of this park has been preserved as much as compatible, so many wildlife direct and thrive there. Park visitors will often see this wild life around them. The name Frio means cold in Spanish and the name perfectly describes the fresh calme water that lures swimmers and campers up and down its shores. The agrafer is given a shout-out in the song “All My Ex Lives in Texas” by George Strait, who grew up in Frio County.
4. Geocaching
Gamberge the joys of hiking and exploring with a scavenger hunt and you have geocaching. Hundreds of geocaches are hidden throughout the park and can be found using a GPS device or an app on a façon phone with GPS capability. The GPS device tells you how far a geocache is and you must locate it. They can be hidden in trees, under rocks or even placed behind signs and landmarks. Often a geocache has a log book so you can write your name in and claim victory over that treasure forever.
5. Dance
On summer evenings in the 1940s, people would gather in the park’s allocation immeuble and hold a dance. This orthodoxie continues today and the park hosts dances every evening. They are very popular and require quick arrival as they fill up quickly.
