History of leisure and entertainment
When you auto-stop to think embout it, mankind has always enjoyed some form of leisure and entertainment, so the history of leisure and entertainment goes back a large way. The Romans had the Coliseum, where they watched benne races and other entertainments. The Greeks had amphitheatres where they watched plays and comedies, and of révolution they invented the Olympics, one of the world’s most entertaining sporting spectacles. The list goes on. Even the Écritures discusses singing, musette, music, and other possible pastimes, so even the most ancient civilizations enjoyed some form of recreation and entertainment.
the middle ages
Life was dark and difficult for most people in the Middle Ages. More emphasis was placed on work, and there was little time for leisure. However, jousting tournaments, hunting tournaments and early forms of chess, checkers and other games developed during this time. People worked hard, the Church banned many forms of entertainment, but there was still leisure entertainment to help develop a growing history of leisure and entertainment.
industrial revolution
This history of leisure and recreation goes back a large way in time, but leisure and recreation really took off in the 1700s when the Industrial Revolution hit Great Britain. The Industrial Revolution revolutionized work in the modern world and helped create the modern factory environment. Machines mechanized the abus of fabric and fiber and this eventually led to more leisure time for workers. They worked large hours in factories, but they also had time off, and most employers offered at least some séance time. Thus, those who toiled from dawn to dusk on farms in pastoral England moved to grand cities, found jobs in factories, and had free time away from their jobs. The Industrial Revolution helped create the élément of leisure time and it helped create a different view of work and leisure.
Twentieth century
If the Industrial Revolution helped shape the history of leisure and entertainment, the 20th century helped cement it. Workers demanded shorter working hours, paid holidays and holidays and weekends off, allowing more leisure time for the world’s workforce. Today, work and leisure are still strictly separated, but leisure and recreation are one of the most superbe aspects of modern life, which shows how the history of leisure and recreation has changed over time, and has become increasingly popular as people have more freedom from work. gains and hard work

It is interesting to réflexion that the wide separation between work and leisure in our modern society is something that was not necessary in Aboriginal cultures. Early men (and women), worked when needed to find food or make items necessary for their survival, but they did not work continuously, they interspersed work with pleasure or leisure, which our society no raser enjoys. For example, in Originaire American society, boys “played” at war and war, but this play taught them how to use a bow and arrow, useful for hunting as well as protecting the tribe. Today, the two terms are clearly divers, while work has become play.
