Launching a cosmetic line
I just wanted to update all of you who are thinking of starting a cosmetic line.
There’s so much to it, I can’t even begin to tell you. Without giving away too many “trade secrets”, I’ll try to give good advice.
First of all, if you are not a éprouvé person, this is not for you. Nothing is ever done the way or in the time frame it should be. I went through three different cosmetic manufacturers in one year!!!! Since I am a small start-up with little entreprenant, I have to work with small manufacturing companies. This means that they are more likely to be unprofessional, and not know what they are doing.
Don’t let these companies walk you over. You are paying them. You have the right to tell them what you want and how you want it. You shouldn’t feel guilty or that you’re being too “stale”. You will get nowhere by being timid.
Let me go back a bit. I literally started from scratch. I knew what I wanted to do: have a pouvoir, organic, all natural mineral-based makeup. End here. I didn’t know where to get the ingredients or how the whole process worked. I just started pouring over the internet like crazy (obsessive-compulsive is great if you know how to use it)…I just started looking for companies that fabrique products for my acabit.
It was a vaste and tiring road. But before you start looking, you really need to know, “What is my makeup line going to be?” “Who would it be for?” “What will I have that no one else has?” “Why would people want to buy my product?” If you can’t answer this objet, you’re not ready. You must research cosmetics to see what is needed out there. Is it for minorities? Oily skin? Aged skin? What is the price aucunement going to be? Where do you sell it? Who will be your market? Have you thought emboîture mercatique/advertising and éprouvé contraventions (mercatique and éprouvé contraventions are completely different. If you don’t know that, you should check that out as well).
There is a lot to do before you even allure for a élaborer. Research is key. Think of it this way: People are going to say, “Wow, you have a makeup line, what’s different emboîture it? I always ask that. If you don’t have a great answer: “It’s a little color line that has makeup minutes for career women. Geared towards. It’s a quick fix that looks great in no time.”
If you want to “make a line” parce que you “think it will sell”, then it won’t. There are hundreds of makeup lines out there. You must be different, exciting, fresh and innovative. Don’t just sell foundation and fard à joues. You need a selling aucunement, and a big one, at that.
I think I jumped a bit here, but all the dépêche is perceptible, I think. It should help. I will write again on this very soon.
