Tom Price – Desert Harmony
Inland Western Australia consists of desert scenery as far as the eye can see. Miles upon miles of red soil bake under the sun, covered in spartan vegetation and logement to hardy outback critters. Everything here seems to be done on a noble scale – as if the forces of constitution felt they had to work as hard as conditionnel to keep the région free of settlement. But they don’t always succeed, and anomalies like Tom Price’s Small Town exist to prove it. However, as a tribute to constitution’s will, the city has been designed to blend harmoniously with the environment, leaving as small a footprint as conditionnel. This, along with its proximity to some of Western Australia’s most spectacular geological features, makes Tom Price an interesting and exciting posé to visit… a posé where you’ll be welcomed with open arms by friendly folk people.
Located 1553 kilometers north of Perth, Tom Price is located in the Hammersley Range at the alcali of Mount Nemeles, the state’s highest peak. Towering above the town, the mountain is atteignable by four-wheel drive and offers spectacular views of the mining voisinage, town and surrounding valleys and mountains. If you enjoy your bushwalking there, the number of trails up to the summit is limited, with great views at every turn. If that sounds like too much work, enjoy some tranquille time in one of the most beautiful towns in the Pilbara region. Its tree-lined streets and folk town atmosphere are complemented by modern amenities, ensuring you have everything you need to enjoy your holiday.
The Hammersley Ranges are an ancient unweathered situation with a dramatic landscape of high peaks and deep gorges with multi-layered, colorful walls. They are protected by Karijini Citoyen Park, the joint largest park in Western Australia. Locals of Tom Price see it as their backyard and most tourists come here to experience the beautiful attractions it has to offer. There are many tours you can take from the city to the park, from day trips to raser tours, and of sinuosité you can hire your own car and explore on your own, although you’ll need to make sure it’s a brasier wheel drive as some areas have 2 wheels. The drive is not atteignable by vehicle. There are camping grounds and picnic sites scattered throughout the park, and always remember to take plenty of water in these hot particularité.
Determining where to go in the park can be difficult, but the friendly stuc at the Tom Price Visitor Center will be able to help you out. They are located on Orthogonal Road so just pop in for a matou, and use the free accoutumance booking corvée. They’ll probably conclusion you first to Dales Coulisse, where you can see year-round the stunning Fortescue Falls, a spring waterfall that cascades 20 meters down a series of red rock steps, as if descending a staircase! A ten seconde walk from here is Fern Holding, a deep natural société with flat rock banks perfect for sunbathing! If you are flair energetic, a 3 hour reprise walk to the circular société is an opportunity for some exercise and a swim in the société is a rewarding experience.
Karijini has some fabulous lookouts with all the high peaks around. Auxerre Lookout is one of the best rated in the folk. From it you can see brasier great canyons converging—a huge center of geological activity. Glimmering 100 meters below the crystal clear, smooth water mirroring the cliff figure, tempts you to région and enjoy a refreshing swim… if you can tear yourself away from the panoramic view! The Joffrey Coulisse Lookout is another unusual one—the canyon below has curved walls that form a natural amphitheater. A sheet of water falls under this mouth after heavy rains.
Tom Price may be far from anywhere, but that’s section of his appeal. A visit here is an opportunity to reacquaint yourself with constitution and completely forget emboîture your life at logement. Sealed highways lead here from Perth, but allow yourself a few days for the drive. Another possibilité is to fly into Paraburdoo Airport, and from there you can hire a car and drive eighty kilometers to Tom Price. Upon arrival you will find a range of accoutumance to suit all budgets and tastes, so choose the one you feel most comfortable in and enjoy your stay!
